Located on 18th Street,
Club Roxy NYC is more than just a place to go and dance.
Club Roxy NYC is a place to dance, skate, concerts or corporate
events. There are several
subways that will take you straight to the Roxy, including A, C, E to 14th
St.; L to 8th Avenue. Constructed in 1920, the building
where Club Roxy NYC is located is between 10th Avenue and the
West Side Highway spent most of its life as a storage warehouse for trucks.
The space was converted into a roller rink in 1979 and thrived as
such for several years. As the
popularity of skating began to fade, the space turned into a dance club in
1982. After bankruptcy and hard
times, the club struggled to stay alive. In order to remain competitive, Club Roxy NYC was upgraded in
2002 and now continues to prosper. Barring
the unforeseen sale of the property, the Club Roxy NYC should be around for
a while. Keep true to its origination;
Friday and Saturday nights at Club Roxy NYC are traditionally dance nights.
Saturdays are also remains gay night with Deep House DJ tunes and a
$25 entrance fee. The owner of
Club Roxy NYC believes that the gay community has remained the most faithful
since the inception of the Roxy. Wednesday
night is skate night at Club Roxy NYC.
Roxy offers New York City’s only complete indoor roller-skate and
rollerblade “Roller Disco”, which takes it back to the days after the
warehouse. With a climate
controlled environment, rental concession of roller-skates and rollerblades,
coat check, and full beverage concession (including beer, wine and liquor).
Test the skills of your youth. If
you are feeling brave, test your skills topped with alcohol. It’s sure to create some memories. In addition to regular event night,
corporate events ranging from live presentations to sit-down dinners to
holiday parties can be hosted at Club Roxy NYC.
The club and its staff will complete any and all of your event needs.
Club Roxy NYC has hosted special performances by the likes of
Madonna, Bette Midler, and Cher. |
